I grew up in a small part of rural Ireland whose net export over generations had been people. Those left behind became more and more conservative ( see the electoral returns for East Galway) and inward looking. Now we have new neighbours, friends, workmates from so many different cultures of the world, bringing their perspective and opening our eyes to another way of seeing things. Fáilte!

I do love that this friend loves the Constitution so much! He works it into conversation with an impressive frequency.

But, I am reading the recent book about Thomas Jefferson right now, so I might start developing feelings about it!

Like you, I cherish my expat friends in my adopted country. I’m happy to know you two! x
